Complete Beginner Kitesurfing Course (12 Hours)
Our 12-hour beginner course is taught in Buen Hombre's flat-water lagoon
and is designed to take you from zero experience to independent riding under control.
Day 1–2: Kite Control & Safety
You'll learn wind theory, safety systems, equipment setup, launching and landing, and essential kite control skills.
Training begins on land and continues in shallow water until movements are confident and automatic.
Day 3: Body Dragging & Board Recovery
You'll master body dragging upwind, board recovery, and positioning — critical skills that ensure
you can move safely and retrieve your board without assistance.
Day 4–5: Water Starts & Riding
You'll practice water starts, board balance, and controlled riding. Most students are able to ride independently for short distances by the end of the course, with a solid understanding of safety and self-rescue.
Successful completion qualifies you for IKO certification, depending on skill progression.
Intermediate Kitesurfing Lessons & Supervised Practice

Buen Hombre vs Cabarete for Kitesurfing Lessons
Buen Hombre is ideal for beginners and early progression thanks to its protected lagoon, shallow water, and minimal obstacles.
Cabarete is better suited for intermediate and advanced riders who want to ride waves and stronger ocean conditions. Many students start their lessons in Buen Hombre and continue progressing in Cabarete once they are confident.

Best Time for Kitesurfing Lessons in the Dominican Republic
IKKitesurfing lessons are available year-round. The main wind season runs from November through August, with the most consistent conditions typically between December and March. Water temperatures remain warm all year, and lessons are scheduled based on daily wind conditions for optimal learning.
