Stay steps from one
of the Caribbean's most consistent
kitesurfing spots

and experience life
in the peaceful village
of Buen Hombre, Dominican Republic.

A Morning at Buen Hombre
Before the rest of the world wakes up, Buen Hombre is already alive.
The coffee machine — programmed the night before — fills the air with the deep, warm scent of fresh Dominican brew.
The first rays of light catch the lagoon and turn it gold. Your feet find the sand without thinking.
One dog joins you on the walk, then another — Pepe, Shakira, Rocky, Coco Chanel — padding beside you as you follow the shoreline.
The sea is a mirror. The kites aren't up yet. This moment belongs only to you.
This is what we built. Not just a kite school — an entire world, designed for people who believe that the best days start slowly, and end with salty hands and a good story.
✓ Established 2013 — Over 3,000 students trained
✓ Licensed Pro Center — Only tourism-licensed kitesurf school in Monte Cristi Province
✓ 4.9★ Rating — Championship instructors — Year-round operation

Food & Kitchen — Honest Meals for People Who Move
We feed you like we train you — thoughtfully, and with real ingredients.
Morning — Heartly Breakfast
Eggs cooked to order, bowls of tropical fruit — papaya, mango, pineapple, whatever the season is offering — fresh bread, and that coffee. Dominican, fresh, and the machine is programmed to be ready for whoever gets up first. You will smell it before you open your door.
Midday — High-Protein Lunch
Lunch is clean and energising — high in protein, balanced, and designed for people about to get back on the water (or back to their laptops). Grilled fish, chicken, rice and beans the Dominican way, salads with local vegetables. The kind of meal that gives you back everything the morning took.
Evening — Dinner with Variety
Dinner is where the day exhales. Local catch grilled simply. Chicken dishes with Caribbean spice. Quality beef accompanied by the vegetable sides you only get when someone actually cares: tostones, yuca, avocado, seasonal greens. Meals are shared at the communal table. Stories accumulate. The night starts quietly and often ends late.
-
Fish, chicken, and quality beef options nightly

I arrived never having touched a kite in my life and left riding independently. I don't say that lightly — I've tried to learn kitesurfing twice before in other places and both times it didn't click. Buen Hombre is different. The lagoon is so flat and shallow that you're never scared, and the wind is so consistent that you get in real water time every single day. Miky is an exceptional teacher — he watched how I was moving and adjusted everything to how I specifically learn. By day four something just clicked. The loft was beautiful, the coffee was ready every morning before I even thought to ask, and the dogs adopted me by day two. This place changed how I think about learning something new. I'm already planning to come back to advance to wave riding in Cabarete.

I've been working remotely for four years and I've never found anywhere that gets the balance right the way Buen Hombre does. The Starlink is genuinely fast — I was shipping code, running standups, and pushing large files without thinking about the connection once. But the real thing is the silence. No honking, no construction, no Instagram-crowd beach. Just the lagoon, the wind, and a lounge area where the other guests naturally gather in the evenings. I started kiting on day three because why not — by the end of the week I was body dragging and obsessed. The loft is simple and perfect: elevated, breezy, ocean view from the bed. I extended twice. Three weeks felt short. The hardest part of the whole trip was leaving.

We were nervous about bringing three kids (ages 8, 11, and 14) somewhere this remote, and now we can't imagine having gone anywhere else. The older two both had kite lessons and were body dragging by day three — they're still talking about it. The youngest spent most of the trip snorkeling and chasing the camp dogs, which she considered a perfect holiday. The bungalows are right on the beach so the kids could run to the water and we could watch from the hammock. Riin and the team organized a boat trip to an island I can't find on any map — we had the beach completely to ourselves for four hours. We've done a lot of family holidays. This one will be the one they remember.
