The Team Behind Kite Buen Hombre
When you learn kitesurfing with us, you're not handed off to seasonal staff. You train with the people who built this school — a Dominican Republic champion, a Ventum-sponsored pro rider, a multilingual IKO instructor, and a co-founder who has been running this operation from the ground up since 2013. Between them, this team has trained over 3,000 students from more than 40 countries. They compete. They coach. They're here.

Miky is the reason Kite Buen Hombre exists. He co-founded the school in 2013 with a single goal: build the best kitesurfing experience in the Caribbean, and teach people properly. As a multiple-time Dominican Republic Big Air Strapless Champion with over 15 years of teaching experience, he brings competition-level knowledge into every lesson — then breaks it down into steps anyone can follow. His students don't just learn to ride. They understand what they're doing and why. In 2026, he won the Rey del Aire title at Salinas Fest in Colombia in his first full international season. He doesn't teach from a manual. He teaches from the air.Coaching focus: Big air progression, kite loops, megaloops, jump technique, competition prep Suitable for: Intermediate to advanced rider

HELEN- IKO Certified Instructor | Kite Club Manager
🎓 IKO Certified Instructor
🌍 Teaches in English, Spanish, Estonian
📍 Based at Buen Hombre & Cabarete
Helen is the calm in the chaos of learning. Her multilingual background and years of international experience make her exceptional with first-timers — she reads students quickly, adjusts her approach on the fly, and creates the kind of learning environment where nervous beginners actually relax and progress.
She also manages the day-to-day operations of the kite club, which means when everything runs smoothly, that's largely her doing.
Specialties: Beginner to intermediate, safety protocols, student experience, equipment maintenance
RIIN
Co-Founder | Operations & Experience Design
⚙️ Co-Founder since 2013
🌍 Fluent in 8 languages
🏄 Strapless kitesurfer
🏛️ MITUR Licensed Operator (License TA-1AEK-1501-01090-2021-RL-01090)
Riin built Kite Buen Hombre from nothing — in a remote fishing village, without infrastructure, starting in 2013. Everything that feels seamless when you arrive — the booking process, the accommodations, the logistics between locations, the standards — was designed and built by her. She handles the legal, the regulatory, the web, the strategy, and the experience architecture that makes this place work as a business.
On the water, she rides strapless.
Off the water, she runs the operation that makes everything else possible.

— AND THE REST OF THE CREW —
Every great kite school has a support team. Ours happens to have four legs.

PEPE
Beach Operations Professional The one who knows where everything is, has seen everything twice, and keeps the beach running. Essential.

SHAKIRA
Morale Officer Officially the wiggliest member of the team. Unofficially responsible for welcoming every single guest who walks through the gate.

ROCKY
Head of Beach Security takes his job very seriously. Has never once let an unauthorized kite through without a thorough inspection.

COCO CHANEL
Newest Team Member Still learning the ropes — but making up for it in enthusiasm. Already a guest favorite.

LUCKY
The Legend Once a boss, always a boss. Retired from active duty but the standard-bearer for everything Kite Buen Hombre stands for.
