Choose Buen Hombre if:

 • You want the safest, calmest flat-water conditions (no waves)

 • You're traveling with young children or non-kiters who want peaceful beaches
 • You want to focus purely on learning without distractions

Choose Cabarete if:
 • You're intermediate to advanced and want ocean wave riding
 • You want to learn wave riding, foil or wing foil advanced techniques
 • You prefer a vibrant beach town with international restaurants and nightlife
 • You're already comfortable kiting in flat water and ready for progression
 • You want to be part of the Caribbean's most active kite community

Can't decide? Book our Adventure Mix package or Flexible Stay option - start learning in Buen Hombre's flat water, then progress to Cabarete's waves. Many guests split their trip and love experiencing both worlds.

All courses include:
 • Complete equipment (kite, board, harness, life vest, safety gear)

 • Comprehensive safety briefing and theory

 • Optional IKO certification card upon course completion
 • Small group sizes (maximum 4 students per instructor for group lessons)
 • Insurance coverage during lessons

We provide everything except:
 • Swimwear and sun protection (available for purchase)

❓ Do I need previous kitesurfing experience?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not! The majority of our 3,000+ students were complete beginners when they arrived. Our progressive teaching system is specifically designed to take you from zero experience to independent riding safely and confidently.

What you need:
 • Basic swimming ability (you'll wear a life vest during lessons regardless)
 • Reasonable fitness level (we adapt to all abilities)
 • Willingness to learn and take direction
 • Sense of humor (you will get wet and it's all part of the fun!)

Age requirements:
 • Minimum: 12 years old for group lessons
 • 5+ years old possible with private lessons and parent approval
 • Maximum: There is no upper age limit! We've successfully taught students in their 60s and 70s
Physical fitness: Kitesurfing is surprisingly accessible. You don't need to be an athlete - the kite does most of the work. If you can walk, swim, and follow instructions, you can learn to kitesurf.

 • Prime Location: Walk a few minutes to the ocean.

FLEXIBLE STAY OPTION: Book 10+ nights and switch between both locations for a flat rate of $85/night based on availability. Experience the calm lagoon and vibrant beach town in one trip.

All accommodations feature:

 • Distance: 25-minute drive from POP airport
 • Transfer: We arrange reliable taxi service ($45-50 USD) or include pickup in packages
 • Car Rental: Available at our property or airport if you want driving flexibility
 • Easy Access: Highway route, well-marked

TO BUEN HOMBRE:
 • Distance: 3-hour scenic drive from POP airport
 • Transfer: We arrange private transfer (strongly recommended)
 • Route: Beautiful coastal drive through authentic Dominican villages and landscapes
 • Strategy: Fly into Cabarete first (short transfer), then we drive you to Buen Hombre

ALREADY IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC? 
Accessible from Puerto Plata, Sosúa, and Santiago. We coordinate all transfers.

 • Rates: Better value, mid-range pricing
 • Best For: Great balance of conditions and value

SUMMER (June-August):
 • Wind: The strongest wind of the year  (18-35 knots)

• 24+ hours notice: No refund,  reschedule, no questions asked
 • Weather cancellations: Reschedule up to 1 year period of time
 • Same-day cancellation: No refund 
 • No-show: No refund

PACKAGE & ACCOMMODATION CANCELLATIONS:
 • 30+ days before arrival: Reschedule,  $100 administrative fee
 • 15-29 days before arrival: Reschedule,  $100 administrative fee
 • 14 days or less: No refund
 • Weather exceptions: If severe weather prevents safe operations during your entire stay, we provide  future credits
 • Travel insurance strongly recommended: We recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance for maximum protection

WEATHER GUARANTEE: If conditions are unsafe for your skill level on any given day, we will:
 • Reschedule lessons at no charge
 • Provide alternative activities (boat tours, downwinders to alternate locations)
 • Never compromise your safety for a schedule

Your safety is non-negotiable. We never push students into conditions beyond their ability.
