OUR STORY

Built by Wind.
Refined by Time.

In 2013, when most travelers had never heard of Buen Hombre,

we stood on an empty stretch of shallow turquoise water and knew one thing:

This was rare.

NO CROWDS. NO BEACH VENDORS. NO SIGNAL. NO INTERNET.

Just steady Caribbean trade winds and a quiet fishing village

on the northwestern

edge of the Dominican Republic.

Where others saw isolation, we saw purity.

And we chose to build something worthy of it.

THE FIRST GUESTS

We didn't arrive at a finished destination.

We built around what was already here.

Two Founders.
One Standard.

Riin envisioned more than a kite school. She envisioned a destination where every detail — from airport pickup to your first independent ride

— feels intentional, seamless, and personal.

Behind the scenes, she built the systems, communication,

accommodations, and operational standards that make

the experience feel effortless.

Miky brought mastery on the water —

a Dominican Strapless Champion known for precision and flow,

but equally defined by patience.

Teaching without ego. Guiding without pressure.

Together, they created Kite Buen Hombre.

Not built for volume.
Built for standards.
Season after season.
Wind after wind.

A PLACE BEFORE THE BRAND.

Remote should never mean disconnected

There is Starlink at Buen Hombre — fast enough for video calls, coding, and uploads, on a beach at the end of a dirt road.

It wasn't always true. We started an international kite school here with no reliable phone signal and no dependable power.

Checking the weather meant walking down to the water and looking at it.

Then guests started arriving from Europe, North America, and farther, and we made a decision. Being remote is why people come here. Being unreachable is not.

Starlink isn't an amenity. It's infrastructure — the reason you can take the call, close the laptop, and still make the afternoon session.

For us, luxury means peace of mind.

THE PART MOST SCHOOLS DON'T TALK ABOUT.

Building in a remote village is not glamorous. There have been years of unstable electricity. Years of explaining to people where Buen Hombre even is. Years of proving that a shallow lagoon without crowds is actually a luxury.

Imitators have appeared, and ideas have been copied.

So we focused on what cannot be copied:

Experience. Care. Integrity. Results.

Reputation isn't built by branding. It's built by students who stand up on the board for the first time and scream with joy.

That's something no one can copy.

THE COMMUNITY DIDN'T JUST SUPPORT US.

IT REFINED US.

The most meaningful evolution of Kite Buen Hombre did not come from expansion plans.

It came from listening — from conversations after sunset sessions, beginners who arrived nervous and left transformed, and returning guests who trusted us with their partners, children and friends.

Buen Hombre

Serene. Spacious. Almost meditative.

A shallow lagoon where beginners progress faster than they expect, and experienced riders rediscover freedom.

Cabarete

Vibrant. International. Alive with ocean energy.

A town built around the sport, with a completely different rhythm.

Stillness and movement.
Silence and rhythm.

Two distinct atmospheres, curated under one standard of instruction and care.

THE BOY FROM THE VILLAGE WHO BECAME A CHAMPION

Perhaps nothing tells the story of Kite Buen Hombre better than Davisito. Angel David Bonilla — known to everyone as Davisito — watched the kites in the early days. He fell in love with the sport. And then he flew.

His full story belongs on the dedicated Davisito page. Here, the important part is the connection: a boy, a kite, a place that gave him room to learn, and a story that grew far beyond the beach.

THAT IS WHAT A COMMUNITY CAN DO.

THE GEAR CHANGED.
THE STANDARD DIDN'T.

From day one, we made a deliberate decision about gear: use equipment we trust. The brands have evolved with us, but the principle has stayed the same.

The kite a student learns on affects how the sport feels, how quickly they progress and how confidently they can learn.

Our students deserve equipment that performs as well as our instruction.

THE NUMBER WE VALUE MOST?

RETURN GUESTS.

Some stayed for a week. Some extended for a month. Some now bring their families back every year.

That's the real metric.

Not Instagram followers. Not marketing hype. Return students. Reputation carried by real experience travels further than any marketing ever could.

SAME WATER.
DIFFERENT CHAPTER.

THE VILLAGE

WE BELIEVE:

Safety builds confidence.

Small groups build skill.

Patience builds independence.

And true luxury is space — space to learn, to breathe, to progress without pressure.

We are not a crowded beach school. We are a curated experience.

We are not a party beach.

We are here to help you become a kiter.
