Learn to Fly Before You Learn to Power the Foil
FOIL · WING FOIL · KITE FOIL · PARAWING
Foiling opens a completely different way to move across the water — and once you have the technique, it can turn lighter-wind days into riding days too.
At Kite Buen Hombre, we make the first steps easier with a progressive learning method that separates foil control from wind and power management.
SUP → BOAT → FOIL BOARD → WING / KITE / PARAWING
-
Wing foil, kite foil and parawing — three disciplines, one structured progression
-
Boat-assisted foil training, available exclusively in Buen Hombre, using our own boat
-
Dedicated foil boards, foils and learning equipment for every discipline and level
-
Private coaching — one coach, one rider
The boat makes the hardest part easier.
Learning to foil means learning a completely new balance and pitch-control system. Instead of asking a beginner to manage the foil, board and wind power all at once, we can first teach the feeling of controlled flight behind the boat.
The boat provides consistent speed, so you can concentrate on the foil itself. No wing to manage. No kite to control. No waiting for a gust. Just you, the foil and the water.
This lets you understand lift, pitch, balance and controlled flight before adding the power source for your chosen discipline. As far as we know, we're the only kitesurfing school in the area teaching foiling this way — available exclusively in Buen Hombre, using our own boat.

SUP → Boat → Foil Board → Wind Power
Step 01 — SUP Foil:
Start on a stable SUP platform to understand balance, foil movement and the feeling of lift.
Step 02 — Boat-Assisted Foil:
Use consistent boat speed to practice pitch control, height, balance and controlled flight — no wind or power management required yet.
Step 03 — Foil Board:
Move onto the dedicated foil board and adapt the skills you already learned to the smaller platform.
Step 04 — Add Your Power Source:
Progress into wing foil, kite foil or parawing, depending on your experience and goal.
Step 05 — Fly Under Your Own Power:
Apply your foil control to wind-powered riding, and keep progressing from there.

Less drag.
More glide.
More wind options.
A hydrofoil lifts the board above the water, dramatically reducing drag once you're flying — one of the reasons foiling has expanded beyond traditional kite and windsurf locations.
Experienced foilers can ride efficiently in lighter conditions than conventional boards require, opening up more opportunities on lakes, lagoons, sheltered bays and other suitable waters.
The most accessible way into wind-powered foiling.
Hold a handheld inflatable wing while a hydrofoil underneath the board provides the lift. No kite lines. No kite attached to you.
Wing foiling combines wind handling, balance and foil control into one new discipline. It's suitable for complete beginners as well as riders coming from kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing or SUP.
Start on stable learning equipment and progress toward controlled flights, turns, cruising and eventually jumps when you're ready.

Turn your kitesurfing experience into foiling.
Already kitesurf? Kite foil may be your most natural route into foiling, because you already understand wind, kite power and water starts.
The hydrofoil changes the game by reducing drag and allowing efficient riding in lighter conditions. Build progressively from foil control to riding upwind, carving, transitions, speed and longer-distance cruising.
A new way to power a foil.
Parawing uses a compact canopy and bar to power a foil, offering a different connection between wind and flight. It's particularly interesting for experienced foilers, kiters and wing foilers who want to learn another discipline.
Because the handling, launch and depower system are different from a conventional wing, we teach parawing as its own progression rather than simply treating it as another wing.

Good learning gear matters.
Foiling is technical. Equipment that's too small, too fast or poorly matched to the rider can make the first sessions unnecessarily difficult. We have dedicated foil boards, beginner-friendly foils, wings, kites and parawing equipment for the disciplines we teach.
We choose equipment around your weight, your experience, the conditions, the discipline and your next progression step. You don't need to arrive knowing which board or foil you need — we'll help choose the setup that gives you the best learning progression.
Flat water. Space. A controlled learning environment.
Foiling rewards calm water and clean repetition. Buen Hombre's protected lagoon provides shallow, flat water and open space, letting you focus on balance, pitch control, power management and first flights — instead of constantly fighting waves and chop.
One coach.
One rider.
Foiling is sensitive to small changes in balance and technique. Private coaching means your instructor can adjust the equipment, progression and feedback around you — balance, stance, power control, foil height, pitch control, turns and transitions.
Radio coaching can also provide corrections while you ride, available as an add-on.

Choose your starting point.
-
Complete Beginners — Start with a progressive wing-foil pathway and learn the fundamentals step by step.

-
Wing Foilers — Improve control, turns, speed and progression — or add another discipline.
-
Experienced Foilers — Explore parawing and expand the ways you can power your foil.
-
Light-Wind Riders — Discover a more efficient way to stay on the water when conventional boards become difficult to ride.
Buen Hombre for learning. Cabarete for ocean progression.
Buen Hombre gives you a protected lagoon and a controlled environment for learning and technical progression. When you're ready for more dynamic conditions, Cabarete adds ocean riding, waves, chop and a wider range of conditions — about 3.5 hours away by road, so plan for time in each rather than moving between them in a day.
The two locations complement each other rather than competing.

“Buen Hombre has the best conditions I have found in all of the DR — shallow flat water protected by reef, the strongest wind and beautiful sandy beaches. When the rest of the country has no wind, there is still wind in BH.”
