Wind Speed
How hard it’s blowing, in knots.
Most riders here are comfortable from around 12–15 knots up; anything over 20 is a strong, sporty day.
Gusts
The peaks. A bigger gap between average speed and gusts means a gustier, less steady day.
Direction
Where the wind is coming from. Buen Hombre’s trade winds come from the east, which is exactly what makes this coastline work so well for kiting.

Buen Hombre — % of days that reach kiteable wind, by month

Source: Windguru, “KWind Cabarete, VIBRA-Kiteschool Bozo Beach” station coordinates (the main Kite Beach / Bozo Beach kiting area), archive since Nov 2009. Cross-checked against Windfinder’s historical Cabarete weather station (real instrument, not a model — active 2003–2014, now decommissioned): its lifetime average was just 6 kt with 12 kt gusts, which points the same direction as the corrected numbers below — Cabarete runs meaningfully lighter than Buen Hombre. No general kite-travel or blog sites were used for this table or this correction.
