Cayo Arena — Paradise Island Boat Tour
The Most Beautiful Sandbar in the Dominican Republic
Cayo Arena — known as Paradise Island — is a tiny white-sand island in shallow turquoise water, surrounded by coral reefs. It looks completely unreal in person.
Located offshore within Monte Cristi National Park, this sandbar offers some of the clearest water in the Dominican Republic — visibility often exceeds 20 meters.
The reef directly off the island is rich with tropical fish,
rays, sea turtles, and colorful formations.
The boat journey is part of the experience: mangrove channels, wild coastline, seabirds, and open turquoise water before the island appears on the horizon. Most days, you'll barely see another boat.

The KBH Rite of Passage
This is the classic Kite Buen Hombre milestone.
You boat out to Paradise Island (Cayo Arena), gear up on the beach, and kite 14km back to Buen Hombre along the open Atlantic coast with our safety boat following the entire route.
Every student looks forward to this from their first lesson. You start on a postcard-perfect white sand island and finish on home beach — 14km of Caribbean coastline, consistent trade winds, and the safety boat never far away. Not extreme — celebratory.
Most riders complete it feeling like they've achieved something genuinely memorable.

Playa Popa (also called Mi Popa) sits inside Monte Cristi National Park
about 30–45 minutes by boat from Buen Hombre.
No resorts, no road traffic, no crowds.
Most days, you'll have the beach completely to yourself.
The coastline you pass through is extraordinary: cactus fields running to the water's edge, dramatic dry forest headlands, empty beaches with no name on any map. At Playa Popa itself: crystal-clear water, soft sand, excellent snorkeling on the offshore reef, and total privacy.
Can be combined with Grand Grossier for a full-day coastal expedition.

The Buen Hombre to Playa Popa downwinder covers 17km of empty Caribbean coastline
inside Monte Cristi National Park.
No buildings, no other kite schools, no boat traffic — just you, the wind, the water,
and 17km of protected coast with the safety boat alongside.
Cactus fields meet the ocean. The coastline bends and opens.
The water shifts from flat lagoon turquoise to open Caribbean blue as you move further from the base. Visually, there is nothing else like this on the north coast of the DR.

Punta Rucia is known for some of the clearest water and most intact coral reef
on the northwest coast. Wide white sand beaches, excellent snorkeling, and the route
passes through La Ensenada (Manatee Bay), where West Indian manatees have been spotted.
Unlike Cayo Arena (a sandbar), Punta Rucia gives you a full beach.
Walk the shore, explore the fishing village, snorkel the reef, swim in calm water, and stop for fresh seafood at a local spot (paid separately on site).
