Two things this coast has always made.
The oregano is dried Dominican oregano — stronger and more resinous than the Mediterranean kind, and the backbone of almost everything cooked around here. If you've eaten with us, you've tasted it.
The salt comes from the salinas at Monte Cristi and Buen Hombre — the shallow evaporation pans you pass on the road in, worked the same way for generations.
Neither travels far from where it's made. That's mostly why they're good.
